How do I care for my jewelry?  Will it tarnish or need polishing?

Most of our pieces are made with Antiqued Brass Ox plated or Antiqued Silver Ox plated components.  These components will maintain their beauty and should never need any polishing.  In fact, polishing may harm the finish and is not recommended. 

Some of our pieces are raw brass which have  been "Antiqued"  for that lovely vintage look using our own special process.  These pieces also will maintain their beautiful finish and should not be polished.  Polishing may harm the finish and is not recommended.

Plain Brass components are also used in some of our designs.  While most of these pieces have been lacquered or varnished to prevent tarnishing, some tarnishing of the piece may still occur.  We recommend polishing your piece with a multi purpose metal polish or Brass Polish such as Brasso or using a Sunshine Cloth to restore the lovely Gold-like color to your piece!

What is Brass Ox and Silver Ox?

Brass Oxidized  plating or Silver Oxidized plating is the most popular finish for Victorian styled items.  These are brass components which are plated with a rich aged brass or silver patina.  An Antique or Oxidized finish is then applied for a beautiful vintage appearance!  Finally a last layer of non-shiny protective finish is applied which keeps these items looking great for years to come!
